Hannah Hagen (1990)
based in Amsterdam
After a BA in cultural studies at the University of Amsterdam, which I started because of my broad interest in the cultural field, I realized I wanted to focus on visual culture. Therefore I continued with the MA Film and Photographic Studies at the University of Leiden, which focusses on lens-based media (photography, film, video). During this Masters I've followed courses on the theory and historiography of film and photography and curating. My attention has especially gone towards exhibiting the moving image as well as the influence of context in documentary projects. During the course 'Determination of historic photographic procedures', I had the chance to delve deeper into the physical history of photography and learned to distinguish several types of photographic images. I interned at Paradox, where I researched the development of digital storytelling. Time and again I was surprised and fascinated by early forms of digital storytelling (CD-ROM's) and impressed by todays possibilities. Following the internship I continued to work on the project.
Since 2015 I am working as a freelance project manager, fundraiser and curator in the cultural field. Performing tasks such as planning, being in contact with several parties, research, writing project proposals and funding applications, budgeting, as well as content management for social media and websites.
